    MOËT & HENNESSY DISCOVERY DAYS

    I was delighted to attend the special event “Moët & Hennessy Discovery Days 2017” in Zurich. I’m happy to share with you the highlights and limited editions of the brands.

    Dom Perignon presented two Limited Edition Vintage Champagnes – Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009 and Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2005.

    Tokujin Yoshioka designed the special labels for this limited edition. The signature style of the artist – the light reflection in crystal prisms, beautifully represented in the unique design of the labels on the bottles. Tokujin Yoshioka turned them into holograms, that sparkle with glorious light.

    In addition, Dom Pérignon offered the exclusive Dom Pérignon P2, 1998 and Dom Pérignon Rose P2, 1995.

    GOOD TO KNOW:

    Dom Pérignon is vintage champagne only. Each vintage is made from the grapes of only one year’s harvest.
    You can see P2 code on some bottles of Dom Pérignon. Plénitude – it’s the time requiring process of filling the champagne with its unique incredible bouquet and taste.
    P1 – the champagne which has been aged for 9 years and more.
    P2 – the champagne which has been aged for at least 15 years and more.
    P3 – the champagne which has been aged from 25 to 40 years.

    Veuve Clicquot presented a new Veuve Clicquot Extra Brut Extra Old, VEUVE CLICQUOT journey collection, VEUVE CLICQUOT Rose MESSAGE and VEUVE CLICQUOT la grande dame by charlotte olympia.

    The special edition of Veuve Clicquot Journey Collection completed with a fun and inspiring Trunk package.

    The gift boxes of Veuve Clicquot Rose Message are coming with stickers. Now you can personalise your gift with a special heart-warming message. It’s a splendid idea for a present! :)

    Veuve Clicquot Extra Brut Extra Old is made only from reserve wines, from the years 1988 , 1996, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010, chosen for their brightness, complexity and exceptional flavour.

    Good to know:

    • Madame Clicquot was the first businesswoman of modern times. In 1805, she took over her husband’s wine business, when widowed at age 27.
    • She created the first vintage champagne ever.
    • Madame Clicquot invented the first riddling table, that made the process of dégorgement more efficient and guaranteed a crystal-clear wine.
    • She also created the first “rosé d’assemblage” (blended pink champagne) by combining some of red wines with champagne.
    • The Veuve Clicquot Business Woman Award was created in 1972, and since then, annually it has been awarding the most successful women in business.

    You can also create your own tasting experience with Veuve Clicquot Rich, which designed for mixology.

    Veuve Clicquot Rich cocktails directions:

    • Place ice cubes in a large wine glass.
    • Add ONE ingredient of your choice: 1 large zest of grapefruit / 5 pineapple quarters / 4 strips of celery / 3 strips of bell pepper / 3 slices of cucumber / tea using tea strainer.
    • Finish with chilled Veuve Clicquot Rich.

    Glenmorangie presented the Special Edition Glenmorangie Bacalta.

    It’s a fresh fruity single malt whiskey, created from Glenmorangie matured in former bourbon casks and then extra-matured in casks once filled with Malmsey Madeira wine.

    ARDBEG presented the limited edition ARDBEG AN OA.

    This new smoky whiskey perfectly pairs with the fine dark chocolate. At the Discovery Days Ardbeg offered it with en exclusive Marc-André Cartier Chocolate.

    hennessy is the world’s most prestigious and iconic cognac.

    In 2015, Hennessy celebrated its 250th anniversary, an exceptional adventure that has linked two families, the Hennessys and the Fillioux, for eight generations and spanned five continents.

    Below you may find a few Hennessy cocktails which I took from their official website.

    THE HENNESSY SAZERAC

    NEAT (NO ICE) / FALL / EASY

    INGREDIENTS
    • 2 1/2 oz Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège
    • 1/8 oz Absinthe
    • 1/2 oz Simple Syrup
    • 5 Dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
    • Garnish: Lemon Twist
    • Glass: Rocks
    DIRECTIONS

    Add Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège, simple syrup, and bitters to a mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a rocks glass that has been washed with absinthe. Garnish with a lemon twist.

    SPICED ORANGE SMASH

    ROCKS / FALL / EASY

    INGREDIENTS
    • 1 ½ oz – Hennessy V.S
    • ¾ oz – Velvet Falernum
    • 2 Dashes – Angostura Bitters
    • 1 heaping tbsp – Orange Marmalade
    • ½ oz – Fresh Lemon Juice
    DIRECTIONS

    Add all liquids to a shaker tin with ice. Shake until well chilled. Fine strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

    VIEUX CARRÉ

    NEAT (NO ICE) / FALL / ADVANCED

    INGREDIENTS
    • 1 oz Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège
    • rye whiskey 1 oz
    • sweet vermouth 1 oz
    • Splash Bénédictine
    • Dash Angostura bitters
    • Dash Peychaud’s bitters
    • Garnish: Lemon Twist, cherry
    • Glass: rocks
    DIRECTIONS

    Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir until chilled, strain into a rocks glass and garnish with a Lemon Twist and cherry.
